  • Description: The propagation of sound in a relatively constant 40-foot-deep region of the Atlantic Ocean off Wallops Island, Virginia, is modeled using both image and normal-mode theories. The model is compared to observations of signal level over a frequency range of 40–10 000 Hz (0.32⩽H/λ⩽80) and at distances out to 2000 yards (r/H=150).
