  • Description: Acoustical facings (including micro perforated panels—MPP—woven and non-woven textiles, screens..) which can be used in association with porous materials, have been widely studied. A large number of models are described in the literature. This work presents a comparison of these models discussing particularly the expression of the corrections related to the pressure transition from the air inside the perforations to the outer media (air or porous materials) formulated in their resistive and reactive parts. Based on this analysis, it will be shown how to improve D. Y. Maa's model using the pioneer works by V. A. Fok, V. S. Nesterov or U. Ingard. Finally, the modeling of acoustical facings using classical porous models will be discussed. It will be shown how these porous models can be used to account for vibrations of the facings' skeletons or flow through the perforations in a non-linear regime.
