<jats:p> An improvement of the synthesis of aminomalononitrile (2) can be achieved by using Raney-catalysts for the reduction of oximinimalonitrile at a H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>-pressure of 4 atm and 20 °C. Due to the reactivity of oximinomalonitrile some new derivatives of oximinocyanoacetamide are obtained by O-and N-acylation. Condensation of 2 with benzilmonoxime leads to 2-amino-5,6-diphenyl-pyrazine-carbonitrile, with N-phenyl-formamidate 2-amino-2,2-dicyano-1-(N-phenylimino)-acetaldehyde (10) is yielded. </jats:p>
