<jats:p>The cyclo-phosphazenium bromide [(Ph<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>PC<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>H<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>PPh<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)N ]Br has been prepared by the reaction of bromine with Ph<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>PC<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>H<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>PPh<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>NSiMe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> and subsequent elimination of BrSiMe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> in boiling acetonitrile. According to a crystal structure d e termination the com pound contains bromide ions and cations with a P<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>C<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>N heterocycle in a twist conformation with PN bond lengths of 160.6(3) and 161.5(3) pm. Space group Pna2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub>, Z = 4, lattice dimensions at - 70 °C: a = 1702.5(3), b = 1280.8(3), c = 1056.9(2) pm, R = 0.030.</jats:p>
