<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>
<jats:p>Transparent colorless crystals of KCs[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> and NaRb<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> · H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O were obtained by blending aqueous solutions of Na[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>] and RbF or KF, respectively. After evaporation of the water, the remaining solid was extracted with absolute ethanol and the solvent was allowed to evaporate at r. t.. KCs[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> crystallizes in the space group <jats:italic>C</jats:italic>2/<jats:italic>c</jats:italic> (no. 15) with the cell parameters <jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 1382.7(2), <jats:italic>b</jats:italic> = 998.1(1) and <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 1455.4(2) pm, and <jats:italic>β</jats:italic> = 118.085(4) °. The structure of NaRb<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> · H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O is exhibiting the space group <jats:italic>P</jats:italic>6<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>/<jats:italic>m</jats:italic> (no. 176) with the cell parameters <jats:italic>a</jats:italic> = 705.98(7) and <jats:italic>c</jats:italic> = 1462.89(12) pm. Single-crystalline <jats:italic>α</jats:italic>-K[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>] was obtained while attempting to synthesize ‘NaK<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>[N(CN)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>’, corroborating the results of previous X-ray powder diffraction experiments. Vibrational spectra and DSC/TGA analyses complete our results.</jats:p>
