  • Description:
The Iglulik, Netsilik, and Copper Eskimo tribes inhabit two ecological zones. Differences in subsistence opportunities explain demographic contrasts which are reflected in the differential occurrence of exogamic‐endogamic practices. Other aspects of marriage, such as ratios between polygyny and polyandry and the terminological concomitants of marriage practices, must be explained by sociopsychological or historical factors.
