<jats:title>Summary</jats:title><jats:p>Bohs, L.: Transfer of <jats:italic>Cyphomandra (Solanaceae)</jats:italic> and its species to <jats:italic>Solanum.</jats:italic> – Taxon 44: 583‐587. 1995. – ISSN 0040‐0262.</jats:p><jats:p>Data from recent molecular studies demonstrate that the genus <jats:italic>Cyphomandra</jats:italic> is nested within <jats:italic>Solanum.</jats:italic> Recognition of <jats:italic>Cyphomandra</jats:italic> as a separate genus therefore is not tenable unless <jats:italic>Solanum</jats:italic> is broken up into smaller monophyletic units. All <jats:italic>Cyphomandra</jats:italic> species are transferred to <jats:italic>Solanum</jats:italic>, necessitating twelve new names and twelve new combinations.</jats:p>
