  • Description:
The paper discussed the migration processes associated with the social and economic, legal transformations of Tuva during its development which contributed to radical changes in the life of the region. Migrations became widespread as the social phenomenon and process in the Middle Ages. Historically, people have always moved towards the most economically attractive regions since the natural consequence of human mobility and the desire to improve living conditions are the main motives for any resettlement. Having analyzed the nature of migration inflows in Siberia and Tuva in the early twentieth century, the author emphasized that there had been resettlement policy instead of migration one in these regions in the past. At the same time, today, the migration policy of both Tuva and Russia is a continuation of the pre-revolutionary and Soviet-era resettlement policies of Russia.
