  • Description:
Petra Baum-vom Felde, ,,For he being dead, with him is beauty slain, And, beauty dead, black chaos comes again." (W. Shakespeare, Venus and Adonis). Part II. Dionysiac presence in mosaics of the late Roman villa at Piazza Armerina and the idea of a consistent and superior conceptual design, DHA 32/1, 2006, 27-52.
Abstract: Based on the results of the previous examination the second part of the study centers not only on the relations between a single room and its decoration but also on the cross-references for successive rooms. Vast parts of the villa were planned according to a single concept that follows a paramount and consistent program. In our mind's eye arises a holistic conceptual design and above all a credo of Late Antiquity.
