REB 57 1999 France p. 237 Albert Failler, À propos de la promotion patriarcale d'Athanase de Constantinople. — In writing that Athanasius «reached St Sophia by foot on the 14th October» (1289), George Pachymeres thereby dates the solemn transfer of the patriarch from the Palace to the Patriarchate following immediately upon his promotion by the emperor in the Palace. This date, then, is to be given to Athanasius' promotion as patriarch, not to his episcopal ordination.
