Description:
Thermograph records of the frequency of freezing and sub-freezing temperatures at altitudes of 3,200 ft (975 m) and 4,000 ft (1,219 m) on a mountain slope were compared with published radiosonde data of the same parameter from the same altitudes in the atmosphere. In winter on the windward side of the Coast Mountains of southern British Columbia radiosonde readings from offshore can form the basis of a reliable climatology of the freezing level.
