Description:

We consider real-analytic hypersurfaces in ℂ3 at Levi degenerate points of a certain "generic" type. We give a third order partial normal form at any 2-nondegenerate point. We also give a complete, formal, normal form at those 2-nondegenerate points where the Levi form has one nonzero eigenvalue; i.e. at a point of this type we present a formal normal form such that the transformation to normal form is unique modulo a finite dimensional normalization. Together with a convergence result for formal mappings between finitely nondegenerate real-analytic hypersurfaces, due to the author, Baouendi, and Rothschild, this normal form provides information on the biholomorphic equivalence problem for real-analytic hypersurfaces in ℂ3 at 2-nondegenerate points where the Levi form has one nonzero eigenvalue.
