<p>Asaphomyia floridensis from Highlands County, Florida, is described as new. Asaphomyia includes only one other described species, A. texensis Stone, known from three counties in Texas. Chrysops dixianus, a species related to Chrysops pudicus Osten Sacken, is also described as new; specimens were seen from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.</p>
