Description:
The pantropical tribe Phaseoleae (90 genera and about 1500 species) is traditionaly divided into six or seven subtribes, based on organographic criteria. A critical study of non-organographic data, at the generic level, with new results in some fields (chorology, palynology, dermology, blastology and chemistry of flavonoids), has resulted in a " choro-ecological " hypothesis dividing the Phaseoleae in a subtribe (Glycininae) with forest tendancy, and two more evolved subtribes, adapted to savanna: Phaseolinae and Cajaninae.
