This paper examines to which extent the much-discussed assemblage perspective can be useful as heuristic for a cultural-analytical approach to new forms of citizenship, especially Urban Citizenship in contexts of social movements such as Solidarity Cities. Based on the example of city identification cards, it illustrates the interlacing of the different elements and processes of change within the assemblage.
