Attempt at a semantic categorization of compound adjectives (2) This article follows the first part of the analysis of compound adjectives through a corpus of computer science texts. It deals with the ability of some linguistic units to combine with each other in order to generate three-and four-word compound adjectives. The study of this combinatory function has been carried out with the aim of clearing up the various generation mechanisms and the resulting semantic dynamics. From the pedagogic standpoint it allows isolating the main categories of compound adjectives to be integrated into the framework of an ESP course.
Cet article fait suite à la première partie de l’analyse des adjectifs composés dans un corpus de textes informatiques. Il traite de la capacité qu’ont certaines unités linguistiques à se combiner entre elles pour former des adjectifs composés à plus de deux éléments. L’étude de cette fonction combinatoire a pour objet d’élucider les différents mécanismes de production et la dynamique sémantique qui en résulte. Sur le plan pédagogique, elle permet de dégager les principales catégories d’adjectifs composés à intégrer dans un cours de langue de spécialité.
