This article takes stock of the research done on cellars built between the second century BC and the fifth century AD in south-western Gaul, particularly in the province delimited by the Emperor Augustus in 16-13 BC. We will deal with both the geographical and chronological distribution of cellars. The second part will study the architecture and the functions of these rooms.
Cet article fait le point sur les recherches effectuées sur les caves construites entre le IIe s. a. C. et le Ve s. p. C. dans le sud-ouest de la Gaule, dans l’espace correspondant à l’Aquitaine augustéenne. La question de la répartition géographique et chronologique de ces pièces sera traitée. Un intérêt sera aussi porté à leur architecture et leurs fonctions.
