Abstract. - Urban hydrology, on account of its object, methods and close connections with climatology has become a particular branch of hydrology. Since nearly a century urban hydrology has been the exclusive concern of engineers specialized in storm-water drain and sewer construction ; with the increasing urbanization and town-planning needs, it is to-day a field for interdisciplinary research in which physical, biological and human sciences take part and, among others, it holds the attention of geographers.
Résumé. - L'hydrologie urbaine, par son objet d'étude, ses méthodes et sa relation étroite avec la climatologie, constitue une branche originale de l'hydrologie. Longtemps domaine exclusif des ingénieurs spécialisés dans l'évacuation des eaux urbaines, elle est devenue sous la pression d'une urbanisation croissante et des nécessités d'un aménagement ordonné de l'espace un large champ d'études interdisciplinaires où se côtoient sciences physiques, biologie et sciences humaines, et qui retient particulièrement l'attention du géographe.
