The existence of Bovine Heriditary Parakeratosis which has been suspected since 1972 in France, is now formally confirmed. It has been identified in a dairy herd of 80 naturally bred French Fresian Black Pied Cattle. In 2 years, 4 cases of B.H. PK were discovered. The 4 cows were the issue of the F.F.B.P. bull and have Adema 21 in their ancestry stock. In addition, one of the cows is a descendent of Paula 5. Three of the eight grandfathers of the parent bull of the four calves are descended from the N.R.S. Herd Book, and none of these 3 breeds are known carriers of the congenital defect. L'existence de la Parakératose Héréditaire Bovine (PK. H.B.) soupçonnée dès 1972 en France est formellement confirmée. Elle a été identifiée dans une exploitation de 80 vaches Française Frisonne où se pratiquait la monte naturelle. En 2 ans quatre cas de PK.H.B. ont été identifiés. Les quatre mères sont issues du rameau F.F.P.N. et comptent dans leurs ascendants Adema 21, de plus l’une d’entre elles compte aussi Paula 5. Trois des huit ascendants arrières grands-parentaux du taureau père des 4 veaux sont issus du Herd-Book N.R.S. et aucune de ces trois lignées ne contient les porteurs reconnus de la tare. Les 5 autres ascendants grands-parentaux étant issus du Herd-Book Holstein des Etats-Unis, on peut donc se demander si la tare n’existe pas dans le rameau Holstein Nord-Américain.
