It is agreed that the gymnasion mentioned in accounts, inventories and decrees found at Delos should be identified with the gymnasium that is located close to the Stadium, in the north-eastern part of the island. This building, built in ca. 100 BC, cannot be identified with the gymnasion attested from the 3rd c. BC in inscriptions. The latter must be understood as being the Palestra by the lake, where a decree was discovered in situ specifying that the stèle was to be erected «in the gymnasium of Delos».
On s'accorde à identifier le gymnasion mentionné dans des comptes, dans des inventaires et dans des décrets trouvés à Délos avec le gymnase qui est situé à proximité du Stade, dans la partie Nord-Est de l'île. Cet édifice, construit aux environs de 100 av. J.-C, ne peut être identifié avec le gymnasion attesté dès le IIIe s. av. J.-C. par les inscriptions. Ce dernier doit être reconnu dans la Palestre du lac, où fut découvert, in situ, un décret stipulant que la stèle devait être érigée « dans le gymnase de Délos ».

Το κτήριο αυτό, κτισμένο γύρω στο 100 π.Χ., δεν μπορεί να είναι το ίδιο με το γυμνάσιο που μαρτυρεί ται στις επιγραφές ήδη από τον 3ο αι. π.Χ. Το τελευταίο πρέπει να ταυτιστεί με την Παλαίστρα της λίμνης, όπου βρέθηκε, in situ, ένα ψήφισμα που αναφέρει ότι η στήλη έπρεπε να στηθεί "εν τώι γυμνασίωι τώι έν Δήλωι".
