Remontant à l'origine de la culture du riz dans une région transfrontalière entre le Véronais et le Mantouan au début du XVIe s., l'article montre comment le riz a marqué l'histoire politique et économique de la région et a façonné son paysage. Après la deuxième guerre mondiale, une nouvelle variété s'impose : le Vialone Nano. Aujoud'hui, bien que les paysages du riz aient été profondément modifiés par une agriculture industrielle, cette variété est l'objet d'une valorisation culturelle et écologique.
Originating from rice cultivation in a cross-border region between the country of Verona and the country of Mantua, in the early 16th century, the article shows how rice marked the political and economic history of the region and shaped its landscape. After the Second World War, a new variety is emerging : the Vialone Nano. Today, although rice landscapes have been deeply modified by industrial agriculture, this variety is object of a cultural and ecological valorization.
