L'article montre à partir de divers exemples comment la préserva¬ tion historique intéresse des types très divers d'espaces urbains, depuis les «Main Street» jusqu'au quartier «art déco» de Miami Beach en passant par la restauration des établissements industriels de Lowell.
The rehabilitation of historical districts in the American downtowns (USA). History is in fashion in the United States, especially since the celebration of the Union Bicentennial in 1976. With the liking for the past, American people rediscover their architectural heritage and feel concerned with their preservation. This relatively new preoccupation in the United States is shared with the Cities which want to regenerate their downtown and owners and property developers who get important tax deductions from the National Historic Preservation Act. The author gives several examples of historical preservation in various cases, from the «Main Street» to the restoration of industrial buildings in Lowell and the «art-déco» district of Miami Beach.
