Angers est axée sur la Maine entre deux confluences majeures, Loire-Maine et Sarthe -Mayenne, vastes zones humides. Depuis deux ou trois décennies est apparue une double fragilisation de cet environnement : pour la flore des prairies inondables (refuges d'oiseaux migrateurs) par suite de la déprise agricole, pour la faune ichtyologique à cause de l'enfoncement anthropique des chenaux d'étiage, qui assèche les secteurs de reproduction. L'aménagement d'un seuil régulateur sur la Maine en aval du centre-ville a permis de retrouver un niveau estival normal et ainsi de combiner les finalités écologiques (réhabilitation des frayères à brochet) et économiques (tourisme fluvial à partir du port d'Angers). Mais l'éco-agro-système des prairies humides appelle une nouvelle gestion combinant sauvegarde du patrimoine et qualité de vie des citadins.
Water and Landscape in the Urban and Peri-urban Area of Angers. Angers is situated on the Maine river between two main jonctions, Loire-Maine and Sarthe -Mayenne, wide wet areas. Since two or three decades appeared a double fragilization of this environment : as regards the flora of flooded meadows (migrating bird sheltings) following the agricultural depreciation, and the ichtyological fauna because the anthropical subsiding of low-water channels that dry the reproduction areas. The arrangement of a regulating threshold on the Maine below the town-centre allowed to recover a normal summer level and so combine ecological (recovery of the pike opawning-grounds) and economic finalities (river touring from Angers port). But the eco-agro-systems of damp meadows call for a new management combining protection of the patrimony and quality of life for those living in town.
