Inscriptions and coins from the 2nd century BC, when Rome already had become an empire for ages ; the city was called “ Metropolis of Paphlagonia” in these times. Our recent archaeological surveys and excavations brought many-faceted insights to ancient Pompeiopolis : the approximate location of the city area, its extension and also the course of the late antique city wall could be clarified.
