Description:
First datations of the Upper Pléistocène and Holocène in the eastern Rif coastal area (Morocco) and morphoclimatic significance. The post-tyrrhenian morphoclimatic evolution in coastal regions begins with red colluvial deposits older than 42 000 y. B.P. (Lower Soltanian). The middle Soltanian corresponds to a rise up of the sea level (intra-Soltanian dune) whereas new red beds shows the Upper Soltanian regression. The holocene dune is older than 6 800 y. B.P., age of grey silt which covers it. Endly, the more important silt deposits are filling up the low alluvial plain more after 3 170 y. B.P. This results, connected with those of Atlantic Morocco and Tunisia, shows comparable morphoclimatic conditions along the coasts of Maghreb during Upper Pléistocène and Holocène.
