While describing their characters attempts at reconversion, the author tries to pacify his own identity, so as to get rid of the hypothesis of betrayal. His biographical figure, between renouncing and disowning, is reappropriated by a large range of critics. Dœs Rolin 's « act of contrition » lead to a collective attempt at celebrating the return of the Prodigal Son ?
