Description:
The hoard catalogued here was buried in the portico of a colonnaded street in a residential district of late antique Sardis. It contained 695 very small bronzes, the latest attributable to Anastasius (491-518) and the Vandal king Thrasamund (496-523), none dated after Anastasius' reform of coinage in 498. The hoard is compared to other finds at Sardis, and its implications for the reform and for fifth-century currency are considered.

Il comprend 695 petits bronzes, les derniers datant d'Anastase (491-518) et du roi vandale Thrasamund (496-523). Aucune pièce n'est postérieure à la réforme monétaire d'Anastase en 498.
