Earlier lateritic bauxites studies allow us to distinguish original weathering facies and derived degradation facies. The distribution of these facies is not just of any kind. In the landscape, this stepped arrangement is to be related with mechanisms of geochemical planation. According to the scale of the West Africa Craton, the altitudinal differences of ore deposits account for the upthrust of the craton during the Tertiary.
Des études antérieures sur les bauxites latéritiques nous permettent de distinguer des faciès originels d'altération et des faciès dérivés de dégradation. La distribution de ces divers faciès de bauxite n'est pas quelconque. Dans le paysage, leur étagement correspond à des mécanismes d'aplanissements géochimiques. A l'échelle du craton ouest-africain, les différences d'altitude des gisements rendent compte du bombement du craton au cours du Tertiaire.
