Aujourd’hui, la sémantique associée à l’expression «environnement personnel d’apprentissage » (EPA) relève principalement du langage courant, lui-même soutenu par des représentations éparses et évolutives. Elle est encore peu étayée au plan théorique, ouvrant ainsi la voie à de multiples interprétations et à des logiques diversifiées d’action. L’article présente les aspects essentiels d’un cadre théorique d’analyse et d’interprétation des EPA, contribuant ainsi à leur apporter une intelligibilité. Ce cadre théorique est ancré dans la théorie sociale cognitive de l’agentivité humaine. Au plan conceptuel, il articule les fondements de cette théorie aux résultats de travaux sur l’autodirection, la collaboration, les communautés d’apprentissage en ligne ainsi que sur la présence en elearning.
Today, the semantic associated to the expression " personal learning environment" (PLE) is primarily linked to ordinary language, itself supported by scattered patchwork representations. It is still not supported theoretically, paving the way for multiple interpretations and diverse logics of action. The article presents the essential features of a theoretical framework for analysis and interpretation of the EPA, thereby obtaining their intelligibility. This theoretical framework is grounded in social cognitive theory of human agency. Conceptually, it articulates the foundations of this theory to the results of work on self-direction, collaboration, online learning communities as well as presence in e-learning.
