Description:
The 13th book of the Annales was sometimes seen as a turning point in the evolution of the style of Tacitus. However philologists are seldom questioning the position occupied by books 1 and 2 in that evolution. Statistics based on the LASLA files and on the software Hyperbase-Latin suggest that, in fact, beyond various lexical, morphological and syntactic variations, the major characteristic of the style of Tacitus seems to be its great homogeneity.
