Italian Abstract: Una spiegazione condivisa dell'arretratezza economica di Napoli – la metropoli europea con i disequilibri economici, ambientali e socialii e spaziali più profondi – non riesce a consolidarsi in Italia. Di conseguenza, la domanda “Quali politiche di sviluppo per Napoli?” rimane da moti anni senza risposta. Il lavoro discute tre recenti libri che riflettono sulla traiettoria di sviluppo della città negli ultimi tre decenni, affrontando il tema degli attori e settori che possono svolgere un ruolo chiave per il progresso della città
English Abstract: Among European metropolises, Naples is by far the most backward. Its economic, environmental and social disequilibria are marked and persistent. Yet a shared interpretation of Naples' economic backwardness has not consolidated in Italy. Consequently, the question of "What development policies for Naples?" remains largely unanswered. The paper discusses three recent books focusing on the explanation of the city's development trajectory in the past three decades, and addressing the question of the actors and economic sectors that may be the key to the progress in the near future
