  • Beschreibung: This research examines over 2,000 Washington State University undergraduate students surveyed annually over the years 2007 to 2011 seeking to document how younger new voters relate their attitudes toward and treatment of others based on their alignment with a political party, candidate or issue. Political discrimination is conceptualized as the changing of one's trust-related attitudes about and actions toward others based on the acquisition of knowledge of their socio-political affiliations or backgrounds. The areas of interest in this paper are as follows: Does political discrimination exist; and if it exists, does it have the same salience across the areas of political party, candidate and issue? How does political discrimination compare to other types of discriminatory practices? What factors influence the likelihood of self-admitted political discrimination among new young voters?
