The present dissertation is based on characterization of mouse models for inborn errors of metabolic disorders concomitant with monoamine neurotransmitter deficiency and investigation of potential therapeutic approaches. Following an introduction (Chapter 1), this dissertation deals with the three metabolic diseases tyrosine hydroxylase deficiency (THD; chapter 2), tetrahydrobiopterin deficiency (BH4 deficiency; chapter 3), and classical phenylketonuria (cPKU; chapter 4).
