The tower grounding conductor is in close contact with the earth, and is the ground discharge channel for the fault current or lightning current of the transmission power system. This paper proposed a location and corrosion detection method of tower grounding conductor based on electromagnetic measurement. In order to detect the complex tower grounding grid (for example, square-type), a three-axis magnetic sensor array is constructed by using six anisotropic magnetoresistive(AMR) magnetic sensors with small size(mm 3). Through simulation analysis,the structural size of the magnetic sensor array is determined, and the feasibility of the detection principle is analyzed.The experimental results show that the detection accuracy of grounding conductor position can reach ±0.1m.The maximum deviation of depth detection is 0.0964m. Furthermore, the corrosion defect of grounding conductor can be evaluated by the value of fuzzy closeness.
