  • Beschreibung: Postmodern thinking has had a strong influence on education critical studies in recent times. It challenges any absolutist, fundamentalist, structuralist and authoritarian claims to knowledge, and views with suspicion any social, economic, and political structural system or arrangement that is supported by such ideas. As a result, we see a proliferation of literature on multicultural education, inclusive education, diversity, and citizenship education, which constitute a clear acknowledgment of the reality of difference amongst humanity. These movements, however, show no commitment to challenge knowledge and value absolutism. This paper defends three positions: (a) the postmodern thesis presents a theoretical and practical opportunity for dialogue across differences, (b) dialogue has pedagogical value, and (c) dialogue provides an adequate response to postmodern ideas
