  • Beschreibung: This article explores how the image of the biblical figure Delilah is portrayed in the music video “Delilah” by the British band Florence + the Machine. Delilah, who according to the biblical narrative is Samson’s last lover and at the same time the woman who brings him down, has received a great deal of attention in the history of reception. The music video “Delilah” also encourages its addressees to perceive the biblical narrative from Delilah’s perspective by placing her at the center of the action. The sequence of actions and scenes refers not only to biblical texts, but also to well- known portraits of the biblical figure through the centuries. Nonetheless, the video not only adopts well-known interpretations of Delilah it also develops a new perspective on the biblical figure.
