  • Beschreibung: Despite the daunting challenge of creating high-quality interpersonal relationships across differences in organizations, they exist and they create positive outcomes for the individuals and for the organizations. This paper argues that the presence of a learning stance in the relationship is the key to creating high-quality relationships across differences. The often difficult path to this learning stance begins, however, with the two individuals' previous personal experiences with members of the other group and hinges on the skill with which the individuals negotiate the conflict and power dynamics that emerge in the relationship. Such competencies as giving and receiving feedback, self-disclosing in identity-relevant ways, overcoming fear and carefulness, and remaining engaged in the relationship help individuals move from frustrating, unfulfilling, and disjointed interpersonal interactions to engaged, productive, and healing relationships
