Korean Abstract: 반세기 동안 국제사회와 단절되어 있던 미얀마가 2011년 민간정부 출범 이후 개혁ㆍ개방을 추진하면서 미얀마 개발협력에 대한 국제적 관심이 높다. 미얀마는 최빈국으로 개발과제가 산재하여 있으나 그동안 서방의 경제제재와 국제적 고립으로 개발원조의 수혜를 받지 못하다가 개혁ㆍ개방 이후 서방의 경제제재가 완화되면서 국제개발협력이 본격적으로 재개되고 있다. 한국 역시 미얀마의 성장잠재력에 주목하여 개발협력을 포함한 양국 간 경제협력 강화에 큰 노력을 기울이고 있다. 이 보고서는 이제 시작단계에 있는 한-미얀마 개발협력의 방향을 정립하기 위해 미얀마의 개발과제와 주요국의 미얀마 지원상황을 분석한다. 특히 미얀마의 개발과제 분석에 있어 개발지표 분석뿐만 아니라 미얀마 정부의 개발정책 노선과 개발협력 운영여건도 현재 공개된 수준에서 살펴보고자 한다
English Abstract: Although Myanmar has currently one of the lowest per capita incomes in Southeast Asia, the country has great potential for economic development. It has a population of 60 million; abundant natural resources including petroleum, timber, and gems; and a geostrategic location that connects the large economies of China and India. If supported by the right policies and institutions, the country should be able to see a substantial increase in living standards in the near future
