Beschreibung:
Immigrant professionals (IPs) are an important source of labour force growth in today’s knowledge economy in many parts of the world. Yet management scholars have paid only scare attention to understanding the potential strategic value of IP career capital and ways of attracting and integrating IPs into local organizations. This paper uses resource based view theory and intelligent career theory to provide a framework for understanding IP diversity and it outlines key stages for studying the relationship between IPs and local organizations. IPs’ career capital and associated challenges are described first. Secondly, the conceptual framework is presented that offers practical advice and examines the role of HR in understanding, attracting, and integrating IPs. Paper concludes with implications for future research and practice in this area.
