  • Beschreibung: Businesses routinely use noncompete clauses to keep their former employees from benefiting the competition. A 2014 University of Michigan study found that 38% of American workers have signed contracts with non-compete clauses. The prevalence of noncompetes in today’s workforce seems to be due to a misuse of the contract term by employers and a lack of understanding by employees. This paper will describe the effect noncompete clauses are having on our workforce and discuss public policy considerations and practices that should be adopted that can adequately protect business interests while also protecting the interests of employees
