  • Beschreibung: This paper studies the role of early intervention in peacekeeping missions as a factor that opens the way for violence downscaling. Using negative binomial regressions and coarsened exact matching models, it is shown that both international and regional deployments contribute to reduce violent deaths, especially in the case of early interventions; i.e., within a year after the conflict onset. We also find that aid contributes to the de-escalation of violence, after controlling for, among other dimensions, the national level of income per capita and the presence of peacekeepers, who act as guarantee for a correct a delivery and usage
