  • Beschreibung: This paper discusses two effective mechanisms for rechannelling Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) arguing that among the two: either through Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) or the Liquidity and Sustainability Facility (LSF), the former is the most effective for African countries. The paper begins by addressing the regulatory aspects of allocating and rechannelling SDRs through its IMF aligned Lending Special Drawing Rights. Its focus then turns towards an analysis of each of the two mechanisms: MDBs and LSF, evaluating the extent to which each is a suitable tool to rechannell SDRs. The paper concludes by providing insight into other alternatives for African countries to consider instead of reliance on SDR. The discursive methodology is relied on to develop the arguments made in this paper
