  • Beschreibung: ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to develop a Food Label Reading Scale (FLRS) to assess the reading habits of adult individuals regarding the information provided on food labels and their expectations regarding this information.DesignThe data were collected through face-to-face interviews using the 20-item FLRS, developed by the researchers, along with a questionnaire on socio-demographic characteristics including gender, age, and educational status.ParticipantsA total of 300 participants aged 20-65 years were included in the study.AnalysisThe validity and reliability of the FLRS were assessed. Content and face validity were established through expert opinions, and exploratory factor analysis was conducted for structural validity. The internal consistency of the scale was evaluated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Furthermore, differences between FLRS sub-dimensions and gender, education, and age variables were analyzed.ResultsThe results indicated that there was a significant difference between the food content and product brand sub-dimensions of the FLRS in relation to age. Conclusions and ImplicationsThe FLRS was found to be a valid and reliable scale for measuring and evaluating food label reading habits. It is anticipated that this scale will contribute to assessing the food label reading habits of participants in future studies
