  • Beschreibung: Urban innovation has become increasingly vital for cities seeking to enhance economic growth, competitiveness, and sustainability. Government engagement has been recognized as a significant driver of innovation, with official site visits emerging as a potentially influential catalyst for urban innovation. However, empirical research on the specific mechanisms and contextual factors shaping the relationship between official site visits and urban innovation outcomes remains limited. This paper aims to fill this gap by investigating the effects of official site visits on urban innovation, exploring mediating factors and contextual influences. Through a comprehensive analysis of a diverse dataset, including official visits, innovation indicators, technology education expenditure, firm-level innovation inputs and outputs, and marketization levels, this study contributes to the existing literature on government-led innovation initiatives and provides valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers
