We propose a novel extension of the set covering problem regarding an angular covering structure motivated by the location of surveillance cameras. The aim is to minimize the cost of covering a set of demand points using directional servers installed on facilities. We define preprocessing procedures that take advantage of the model structure and reduce the size of the instances before the solutions are found, which improves the performance in solving them. We conducted extensive computational experiments and addressed a real case in Valparaíso, Chile. The results show that the preprocessing procedures improve the solution times and the optimality gap
