  • Beschreibung: This study uses county-level data from across the US to examine whether non-pharmaceutical interventions lead to patterns consistent with lockdown fatigue during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tests indicate that as lockdowns persist, any initial positive or negative correlation with future COVID-19 fatalities dissipate. In no case, does the paper find robust evidence that an initial statistically significant positive or negative relationship becomes stronger over time. Demographic factors associated with the rural-urban divide appear to influence the fatigue rate. Counties with higher population densities, minority populations, and mean per-capita incomes exhibit slower rates of fatigue. However, past and concurrent changes in the economy as measured by GDP growth in 2019 and 2020 do not seem to have any impact
