  • Beschreibung: Women play a central role in nations economic development, particularly in Africa because they are involved in many activities notably agricultural ones. Women’s engagement in agriculture can also help to increase their income and reduce thereby income inequality. This study main purpose is to analyse the women’s engagement in agriculture effect on income inequality in sub-Saharan Africa. Data are obtained from the world development indicators over the period 1991 and 2018 and Standard World Income Inequality Database (SWIID). The pooled ordinary least squares and the instrumental variable two stage least squares estimation techniques are used to analyse the data. Results show that the women’s engagement in agriculture effects are heterogeneous across Africa regions. The study finds that women’s engagement in agriculture decreases income inequality for the panel group. Specifically, women’s engagement in agriculture decreases income inequality in southern and western Africa but increases income inequality in central and eastern Africa. Policies aiming at reinforcing women right in agriculture by increasing their access to credit, to land and by giving them better education will help to reduce the income gap that exist between woman and men
