Is Free and Open Source Software the solution to gaining digital freedom, sovereignty and solidarity? Which opportunities but also challenges does it hold for civil society? "Digital Civil Society" is one of the focal topics of the CrossCulture Programme (CCP) by ifa – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen. A workshop for CCP Fellows, Alumni and other experts in 2021 focused on the topic of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), its global development and usage by civil society. This publication presents personal interviews, best-practice examples and recommendations for action from different stakeholders around the world.
