Alexander Brenning is a full professor of geographic information science in the Department of Geography of Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany. His research interests includes geospatial modeling of Earth surface processes, machine learning, natural hazards, and remote-sensing data analysis. He enjoys contributing to the open-source data analysis ecosystem of with my geocomputing-related packages. During the 2023 OpenGeoHub Summer school, he granted OpenGeoHub’s communication experts an interview, sharing his views on the challenges to asses the landslide risks using remote sensing, as well as his experience in developing the first alpine-wide permafrost distribution model
