The following sermon is the fruit of a very hurried and unlooked for exertion--and never was there any publication brought forward under circumstances of greater reluctancy ... on the part of the author. The truth is, that he was at a great distance from home, when the urgency of the public demand for his personal appearance ... reached him, and so late, that he had no other resource than to write for the pulpit during the intervals ... of a very rapid and fatiguing journey. ..."--p.
